Tinnitus (Ringing in the Ear)

Tinnitus is noise or ringing in the ears. It is a more common problem that some might think. The Mayo Clinic states that it is affecting about 1 in every 5 people. Tinnitus involves sensations of sound when no external evidence of sound is present.

Causes of Tinnitustinnitus

Tinnitus isn’t a disorder itself. It is a symptom, often related to hearing loss, ear injuries, or circulatory issues. it’s a symptom of an underlying condition, such as age-related hearing loss, ear injury or a circulatory system disorder. In many cases, the cause is unknown, though it does often trace back to inner ear cell damage.

Other causes of Tinnitus may include chronic health issues, and injuries or conditions that involve auditory nerves or the hearing center in your brain. Treatments may include removing ear wax, identifying vascular conditions (those having to do with the circulatory system) and treating them, or possibly removing medication one may be on which may appear to be the cause of the Tinnitus. Many drugs have Tinnitus as a side effect.

Stress seems to be the main source for continued and worsening Tinnitus. Alcohol can also agrivate the condition by increasing the increasing the force of the blood flow, especially in the inner ear. Eliminating or greatly reducing alcohol, and finding ways to manage one’s stress, be it through exercise, relaxation, meditation, or other means, usually provides some relief.

How Can Essential oils Assist with Tinnitus*?

Essential oils will not often completely eliminate Tinnitus, but have been shown to greatly relieve the symptoms and intensity. Aromas of pure essential oils entering the nose immediately stimulate the olfactory nerves, which then alert the Limbic system, which responds with a natural healing process within the entire body. It is important to choose certified pure therapeutic grade essential oils.

The following oils and supplements work best when used together to address Ringing in the ear, or Tinnitus*:

LifeLong Vitality Supplements

15 drops Cypress oil
15 drops Rosemary oil
15 drops Lavender oil
6 drops Helichrysum oil
30 drops Fractionated Coconut oil

Taking LifeLong Vitality supplements daily helps relieve stress and bring the body back into balance.

For oils, use a dark roller bottle or empty glass vial to blend. These essential oils help strengthen and revive the body, reduce congestion, stimulate appropriate blood circulation, detoxify, and calm and soothe the nerves. When Helichrysum is included, regeneration of nerves and improved skin conditions are added to that list. Let any blend rest overnight before use for best effect.

Apply 2-3 drops, or roll on the ear lobe, the neck, and on the bone behind the ear.No pressure is needed. Gently massage the oil into each area, and inhale deeply after application. You may also apply 1-2 drops to a cotton ball and place directly into the ear canal overnight. Do not place oil directly in ears, but on a cotton ball.

For draining of the ear, apply Helichrysum oil directly without a carrier oil to these same areas. Gently massage, and repeat daily.

Secondary suggestions include:

Geranium oil
Basil oil

It is important to be patient. Because essential oils are generally so gentle, you can safely repeat the procedures every few hours, or even more often. Remember to be persistent and allow the oils to work.
